John “J.D.” Heiden started his ERA consulting practice in May 2005. Since then, he has delivered hundreds of successful projects over 20 different expense areas, savings ERA clients in the Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach areas over $10MM.
J.D. was recognized as part of the inaugural President’s Circle identifying him as one of the top consultants in driving positive results for ERA clients. He has also been recognized as the Consultant of the Year for the Southern Florida Area. He is also the most recent chairman for ERA’s Merchant Card Fee practice group with well over 100Merchant Card Fee reviews for ERA clients across the U.S.J.D. holds a B.S. and M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University. He also received Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2004.
His prior experience includes serving as a U.S. Navy Surface Officer and as a relationship and technology program manager with American Express and IBM. At American Express, he developed and led efforts to help business partners leverage new information technology systems to reduce costs and increase process efficiency. Also, his time at Amex provided him with “inside” experience and a unique perspective allowing him to frequently deliver savings on Amex fees that many clients thought were fixed and inflexible.
He has also been a free-lance columnist for the South Florida Business Journal. His column, “Finding Extra Profits,” provides tips and strategies about various expense categories businesses can use to reduce overall costs. J.D. is an avid sailor and scuba diver who enjoys being in and on the beautiful waters of South Florida every chance he gets with his family and friends. He’s also been an active foster volunteer with the Miami-Dade Animal Shelter with his daughter, Alice, since 2018, helping injured dogs and cats recover and find their new forever homes.
