JJ McKinney is a Consulting Partner based in Georgia with over 20 years of experience in various industries.
Before joining ERA, his professional background included operational development and implementation, government compliance and consulting, new client acquisition, quality assurance, and issue resolution. His client consulting experience ranges broadly across industry sectors, including specialty medical, construction, manufacturing, and food service. He focused on the employer’s fiduciary functions and responsibilities specific to retirement benefits. JJ used his vast skillset to assist employers with similar fiduciary obligations to prudent spending, especially in a tight economy.
He also taught classes on various retirement plan related topics, securities licensing, and business management. JJ also provided best practices and article contributions for the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), Plan Consultant magazine, and the Journal of Pension Benefits. In addition, he has been a featured speaker at national conferences and presented webcasts on a variety of subjects. He has volunteered with several organizations American Retirement Association Political Action Committee, Government Affairs, Education & Examination, and Membership Development organizations. JJ currently serves as a member-at-large for the ASPPA Leadership Council.
He graduated with a BA in English and Spanish from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He then worked as a middle school Spanish teacher before entering the retirement plan industry. JJ resides in Appling, GA, with his wife, Jennifer, and nine children.
